...Add a Dash of Photoshop

This is another sketch from a few days ago. It got thrown into Photoshop and I played around in there for a little while. I have only one thing to say... I miss the Wacom. But this didn't turn out half bad, considering I used a mouse.

Back Ordered Work

Here are a few images of some things I have done since posting last week. Rather than back-posting them individually, I plop them here in one lump. Enjoy.

The first couple here are lights and fixtures that are in my apartment.




This is a digitally tweaked sketch of a shading structure. It may someday evolve into the third dimension. Someday....

A study of massing, texture and obscure shapes, none of which can actually be studied completely with a rough sketch such as this but its a start.

Train Passengers

I drew a couple of random people on the train today. One was worthy of a color rendition.

When I got home today, there were some really bright (especially since it was dark out) clouds in the sky. I took some shots and tweaked the color just a little.

More Flashcards...

This week really has been one of the most exciting weeks ever...

Because all of my free time has been consumed with studying flashcards, reading technical notebooks, brushing up on my basic MEP engineering skills and qizzing myself on these matters, I decided to take a 20 minute break and do a quick digital image. What did I go and draw?



I am going to be really glad when Monday comes and goes and this test is over and done with, hopefully forever. It will be nice to have something else on the brain besides radiation, convection, transformers, heat transfer, water pumps, stack vents, refrigeration cycles, fire-safety codes, etc, etc, etc...

Shadowed Light?

Sometimes I draw just for the sake of going through the motions....
And that generally turns out to be crap...
But sometimes there a shred of value that can be extracted from it...
And maybe that shred can be skewed into something else that is slightly more interesting...
And on that occasion, it's best to make note of whatever happened...

Bones + Skin

Please... allow me to explain.

I drew the image on top first, and the more I worked on it the more it looked like a series of interlocking bones. After a little while I began to wonder about the nature of a creature or organism that would have bones such as these. So, i decided to give it flesh and personality... and then I put a turkey leg in it's mouth.

I may have to make more of these.

Locke Stuck In The Hatch

A couple of days ago, Jess and I looked in on one of our fish, Locke, a beta, after we got home from work. Soon after feeding time, there was a realization that Locke was not coming up for food, as usual. As an inspection ensued there was the awful realization that the fish had gotten stuck in the hole at the bottom of a small terra cotta pot (which we refer to as "The Hatch") at the bottom of the tank. It had gone halfway through, realized it couldn't make it, freaked out, gills expanded in frustration and was then prevented from getting back out.

I pulled the jar from the tank and relocated Locke and the jar to a sink while we attempted to resolve the situation. The fish could not be persuaded by force, leaving the only other option I could think of...

Crisco.

But when that didn't work...

The use of the hammer and a pair of pliers was a surprise success and Locke was set free from his ceramic prison! Total damage to the fish: scraped scales, chafed side fins and torn gills. Not to mention the psychological damage (he is quite spastic now). Two days later the fish appears to be in relatively decent health. He is now eating slowly (solid foods), slightly irritable and has a mysterious fear of cameras.

Overall condition: Stable

Start it Off

Here are a couple images that I made using a Wacom tablet. They were a couple of my first, just to get used to the piece of equipment. I started with a couple of random small doodles that i had made on post-it notes and just worked them out here and played with them a little, just to learn technique. They were my first attempts at converting sketch to digital "painting".
