Back Again

Well, after another bit of a hiatus, I am back once again at the blog. There is much to post from the last few months of non-posting. The following isn't one of the greatest things, but it is a tease of a bigger project that I did a couple months back. It was a slap-dash idea/sketch/diagram for a competition that I did through work. I had a shape of a site and I just started going at it. It doesn't have a whole lot of meaning behind it, and it doesn't really resemble the project in any way... but I still kind of like it and I needed something to get the ol' blog ball rolling again. Thus, here it resides.

Retro Week... Day 4!

Fall 2001... programmatic study of Gregory Ain's Dunsmuir Flats... The full model of this was 12"x12" and when we presented these, the entire class put them all together on a table... it turned out pretty cool - all of the pieces fitting together... Can't seem to find an image of the class compilation, though. I have a piece of this model in my possession still, it is one of the few physical models I actually kept from school. I must have spent hours sanding these little pieces. sanding, painting, sanding... painting again... more sanding. Then finally gluing. I only had the patience to let one of the units slide in and out of the white base perfectly.

Montage Diagrams

I sketched these up on the train going home. It’s a simplified graphic exploration of methods of photographic montage. My intent is that I could use these techniques to further explore the capabilities of the digital photographic medium and subsequently the automated output of the basic splicing program that came with my camera.
