Getting Back
A quick sketch from today. Some sketches exploring a spacial feature idea. Nothing fancy, but I'm trying to get back in the groove of sketching and posting after a good inspirational weekend. More to come and probably some catching up on material from the last couple months as well.

...Like Tears In Rain
I watched Blade Runner again last night and decided to do a few sketches of characters from the film. I also sketched out the composition/lighting of one of the opening shots. There are so many great lighting shots through the whole movie that I could practically draw those all night. Next time, perhaps. The characters are always more difficult for me. I am working on getting the shape of the faces down and trying to stylise them a bit.

Retro Week 2009 - Day 7
From a book that was made for a Studio Class in the Spring of 2003. By this point in school, I was getting really tired of making books, but the teachers just loved to work them in to the curriculum. This particular image out of the aforementioned book was a representation of a range of colors that I thought reflected me. The glare is intentional to show the varied textures and finishes of the pages.

...and so Retroactive Week Aught Nine comes to a close. Looking forward to looking through my dusty old work again next Labor Day. Tune in tomorrow when new content will return in full force.

Home Scans
Haven't made a post in over a week, but have been dealing with computer issues.... which is no longer a viable excuse! Finally got a new computer! Finally got a scanner! Never again do I have to post my sketches from modified digital photos!
Heres a couple quick post-its doodles from over the weekend. Nothing fancy, just trying to get back on a roll...

Contrapt-O-Matic
Came up with this wacky piece of machinery on that way in to work on the train. I still haven't figured out exactly what it does yet. I think it might peel grapes, or it may be a device to learn how to fold paper more than 7 times. One of the pistons doesn't do anything. I think every machine should have one part that has no function.

The 100th Post Spectacular!
OK, so its nothing more special than any other post, but it is still worth mentioning that I hit the 100 post milestone on this blog today! Not bad, not bad. If I keep up at the rate I'm going now, I just might hit 200 by the end of the year! We'll see if that happens.
Here's another scribble, that I started last week, but was finally able to finish fleshing out over the weekend. I used a little bit nicer ball point pen this time, which yielded a slightly different result than the standard Papermate one I usually use, but it turned out alright nonetheless.

Retro Week - Day Five
Took a quick photo out of an old sketchbook on this one. Again... the simple ball-point pen makes ink drawings look all shadey. Actually, most of teh sketchbook was filled with irregular doodles fighting against the blue grid of the paper.
OK, its not very exciting but I am tired and unambitious after a long day...

Retro Week 2008 - Day 1
Alright... as my existence at the moment is in a total shambles due to various overhauls, I am going to instate a new segment on my blog and bust out some old work that I have done in the past (art, architecture or otherwise) just to change things up a bit. One week only! It is my hope that these will be a cross-section through various stages in my life. I have no idea what else I am going to do yet... so here goes!
I found these two babies while I was cleaning today. They were a couple of Exquisite Corpse drawings that I did with Jess about 2 years ago. The second one being a nod to my impending birthday (and viking themed party!).

Freebie Blues
While Comic Con was a couple weeks ago already, I still find that i have a sizable pile of crap, swag and miscellaneous handouts to last me until next year. Rather than just pitching all of it, per usual, I decided this year to do something more with it. And so I have! In what is the first of what I expect to be a few pieces, I present this collage. It's mostly formal and acted as sort of a bridge outside of my usual pure abstractions and strip collages. My preliminary sketch is also shown below, and it really turned out quite different. The background initially was going to be entirely covered with strips, but it just seemed a waste to cover ol' Wolverine completely...
