Storm Rolling Over

I took this shot a few weeks ago out in our apartment courtyard, the last time we had a wave of storms coming through. Thought that given the rainy weather that we had to day and the gloomy weekend ahead of us, that this was appropriate.

Change Hath Come

It was a great and historic day for America today! The world is abuzz with the notion of Change and our new President Barack Obama who is the focus of this. The figurehead of the movement that has gripped us for months and years and we hope will drive us for many more into the future. I will keep it short because I know almost everyone is feeling it, and my words might only blur the excitement... We did it!!! Now, lets get to work...

I took this pic this morning on the front door of our apartment building, as I left for work after watching the inauguration. I'm not really sure how long it's been there, but I really only noticed it last night. Only two words are still seen on this torn sticker, but we all know what the missing word is.

NoHo Station Floor

This is a quick photo from my iPhone (not the greatest shot, I realize)of the Red Line train station in North Hollywood. I was standing there waiting for the train to show up, looked down and saw this visage... I thought it was a slight blending of a couple different ideas from my recent pieces with just a hint of collage.

Thursday Photography

This first photo I took of The Stillwell Hotel (Downtown, on Grand) while going for a walk on my lunch break. I was standing in the middle of a littered and totally desolate concrete parking lot.

This next one I took on my walk home from the train station this evening. Its a little driveway around the corner from my apartment. I've always wanted to take a picture of it and now I have. This, of course, was right before I was chased away by the rabid dogs on the corner.

Philosophical Vandals

It was late in the afternoon when we looked out our back windows and realized that the apartment building being constructed half a block away got TAGGED... on the vapor barrier! I perceived that this was no usual territory marking and decided to further inspect the situation. The full text reads "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who believe that they are FREE -> Goethe". As 2/3 of this message is visible from my apartment, I will take this as a personal message from the neighborhood intellectual radicals.


After taking that picture, Jess and I took a walk over to the NoHo park, where we found one of the park's "prohibited activities" signs covered in wrapping paper, held on by duct tape. I suppose that's one use for all the extra paper you have laying around. I don't quite get the point of it, but that's OK. People should do more random acts like these in redeveloping residential zones. It would make the area sightly more entertaining.
